AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT: LIA JONES

Hi I’m Lia, a social media manager and fitness creator from South Wales.

I got into fitness in quite an unconventional way I’d say. After graduating from the University of Bristol in 2024, I went from leading a busy active life where I trained as a competitive cheerleader 3 times a week, straight into a sedentary office job. After a few months, I decided to take up the gym out of sheer boredom and a way to fill my evenings, and I just loved the routine it gave me.

A couple of months into it, I started getting bored of the run of the mill commercial gym I had joined and the style of training I was doing. I came to hear about Hyrox, and although I never believed that I could complete something like that, that way of training seemed right up my street. So I joined my local Hyrox gym, with classes that had live DJs, flashy lights and a community of people that left you wanting more after every session, and from that point onwards I was hooked.. Obsessed even.

So I started training more like an athlete. With actual performance goals that held me accountable and striving for the next milestone. I completed my first Hyrox in Dublin last November, which unlocked my love for fitness events; the atmosphere, the community and the environment to push yourself to your limits.

Alongside this, I started to document my training journey for these races on my TikTok. As I had a few years experience working as a social media manager for businesses, I thought why not use my skills to share my training journey with others, to share my experiences learning the ropes, building my fitness from the ground up and making mistakes along the way.

As my platform has grown, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with brands that I’ve used and loved throughout my journey, like Built For Athletes, which felt like a huge full circle moment. I remember buying my first Built For Athletes backpack ahead of my Hyrox race and thinking I was the bees knees! So to represent a brand so highly associated with the sport that made me fall in love with fitness, that is the reason I started posting to my social media, is really special.

Currently, I training towards my first Half Marathon in Cardiff this October and can’t wait for a new challenge. I have also taken my career in a new direction, becoming a Co-Director of a social media marketing agency, whereby our biggest client is a popular independent gym group in South Wales. We do freelance work for all sorts of businesses all over the UK and I’m so glad I get to combine my love for content creation and fitness in my work every day.
