The 2020 CrossFit Games starts on Thursday September 17th in a new format due to the coronavirus pandemic.
This year’s competition is set to take place across two stages - an online stage which will see the top 20 women and the top 20 men fight it out online and a final stage in California which only the top five from each division will get an invite to.
The Games offer a major earning opportunity to athletes, with a prize fund of $500,000 up for grabs for those placing between 20th and sixth in Stage 1. And the eventual Fittest Man and Woman on Earth will earn $300K each.
A video stream will go live on the CrossFit Games website at 11:30pm BST on Thursday from a California studio in which the hosts will give a guide to the weekend of action ahead.
While the action won’t be shown live in Stage 1, footage of athletes competing will be sent into CrossFit HQ which fans can watch in live shows across Friday and Saturday.
The live shows will be broadcast on the Games’ social media accounts, including YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.
