My name is Jake Dearden and I’m proud to announce I’m joining the BFA family.

A little about me:

I’m the UK’s Hyrox Master trainer as well as a Hyrox athlete. Prior to competing in Hyrox I used to compete in functional fitness events and ran ultramarathons. This resulted in Hyrox being the perfect sport for myself as it requires a good level of fitness but also strength.

1. What sports were you into growing up?

I’ve always been into sports - I started playing football when I was 5, joined my local harriers when I was 11 and went to the gym as soon as I was old enough. It’s always been a big part of my life!

2. Your favourite type of workout?

I love speed sessions, strength training and hyrox/crossfit style workouts. My favourite piece of cardio equipment is an assault bike - which probably makes me a little weird.

3. Least favourite part of training?

I find zone 2 training really boring and struggle to stick to the right pace - I end up running quicker to get it over with but that defeats the object of doing it!

4. Favourite food?

If I could eat one meal for the rest of my life it would be steak and eggs. I can’t get enough of it! And bananas if I need to eat something before I train

5. What BFA products are you rocking at the moment?

The Pro Series 45L Gym Backpack - the best bag on the planet. Fits my life in and also fits under the seat on a plane.
