There are a lot of different energy gels out there if you want to give your workout a boost, so it can be hard to know which is the right one to meet your own needs.

Energy gels can provide a convenient way of getting nutrition in whether you’re out on a cycle, a run or even in the gym.

They’re easy to carry and provide a hit of carbohydrates that’s easy to absorb and boosts your glycogen levels.

Energy gels all have their own unique flavour and some come with added benefits, like a caffeine dose, that can aid performance.

It’s important to find one that gives you what you need without upsetting your stomach, so here are five of the best energy gels.

Maurten Gel 100

SIS gels are perhaps the most widely used by the mass market. They come in a wide variety of flavours, so it’s easy to find one you like and can consume easily in the middle of a workout or a race. They provide 22g of carbohydrates to help keep your glycogen levels topped up.

Although these aren’t quite a gel, they offer an alternative energy boost that has a lot of the same benefits, so are worth considering. They are particularly good if you have a sensitive stomach and struggle to handle gels. While they don’t give you a lot of carbohydrates, they do give you an 85mg dose of caffeine which is proven to boost energy levels and athletic performance.
