The 2021 CrossFit Games, the biggest event in the functional fitness calendar, has almost arrived.

This year’s competition is scheduled to take place between July 27 and August 1 back in its long-term home Madison, Wisconsin having moved to the CrossFit Ranch in California last year due to the pandemic.

After a turbulent year of online qualifiers and uncertainty for the athletes, it will be a relief for everyone once the competition gets underway and the men’s division is wide open with the absence of five-time Fittest Man on Earth Mat Fraser.

Where Can You Watch The 2021 CrossFit Games?

CrossFit will be streaming the action from across the pond live on their YouTube channel.

You can also catch it on some of their other social media channels, like Facebook and Twitch, or get real-time updates on the CrossFit Games website.

While American TV channels CBS Sports and Paramount+ will be broadcasting the final action on the last day in a two-hour programme, CrossFit hasn’t managed to attract interest from European TV channels yet.

Spectators will provide some atmosphere this year, so there will be no fake crowd noise overlaid as we have seen in other sports events.

Men’s Division Looks Wide Open

Not only is Mat Fraser sitting out this year, but last year’s runner-up Sam Kwant will also be missing out on competing at the Games.

Kwant had to pull out of the Semifinal due to a breathing issue which was brought on by an outbreak of Hives before the competition.

The absentees will give some of the sport’s big names, like Jeffrey Adler, Chandler Smith and Noah Ohlsen, more hope than ever of earning the crown this year.

Toomey-Orr Aiming For Fifth Title

In the Women’s Division, Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr is looking to move level with Mat Fraser by taking her fifth consecutive Games title.

She’s looked dominant every time she’s stepped on the competition floor this year and has an aura of invincibility about her.

But Toomey is human. There’s a strong pack of experienced athletes waiting for any slip-up. The likes of Katrin Davidsdoottir, Kari Pearce and Haley Adams will all be hoping it’s their year.
